Our Constitution
FADWU’s work is informed by our constitution, which outlines our guiding principles and organizational structure with transparency, clarity and consistency.
Our constitution is key to defining leadership roles, the rights and responsibilities of membership, and our processes for decision-making and conflict resolution. Drawing from these foundational principles ensures unity in our collective and coordinated efforts towards workers’ rights and unity.
Annual General Meeting
The FADWU Annual General Meeting (AGM) is the highest decision level of the union and provides opportunities for all members of our constituent unions to engage in the process.
During the AGM, we discuss key issues including policies, financial statements, and future plans. Any member can voice concerns and propose initiatives. It is also a forum to elect leaders and vote on significant decisions for the upcoming year.
By participating in the AGM, every domestic worker in FADWU plays an active role in shaping the future of the union.
The meeting is held every year between August and September.
Executive Committee
FADWU is governed by the Executive Committee (Exco), which our constitution stipulates will be comprised of six to sixteen members, with each nationality being represented by no more than two people.
The Exco meets on a monthly basis, and its members are elected by secret ballot during the Annual General Meeting. The term for Exco members is two years with the possibility of re-election. Office holders are elected within the Exco.

Help Build Dignity, Power & RespectFADWU empowers workers from marginalized backgrounds and builds bridges for diverse communities to achieve solidarity to fight for labour rights and equality. More resources to carry out our work on a greater scale will ensure we can make decisive interventions against labour inequality and injustice in the long term.
